General Information
This course is intended to prepare you for life. Much of chemistry makes sense when you understand the basic science behind the chemistry. It is Mr. Tetangco’s job to help you understand the basics of chemistry. Chemistry is a subject full of information. Studying chemistry may seem like studying a different language at times. There are many elements and terms to memorize that can feel overwhelming. Mr. Tetangco’s philosophy behind chemistry and science can be summed up with one quote, “Do not let the factual trees obscure the aura of the forest.” In other words, do not let the small details cause you to lose sight of the big picture.
Course Description
Recommended: Successful completion of Algebra 1 with a B-C or better and Biology with a C or better Chemistry is the science of materials, their composition, interaction and transformation. It is the study of elements, compounds, and mixtures found in nature or made by man. Chemistry requires the use of algebraic concepts, analytical thinking, and considerable lab work. Graduation physical science credit; meets UC/CSU "d" and “g” requirement
Materials Needed
Besides the general school materials (pencils, paper, binder, etc.) it is highly recommended that students obtain a scientific calculator that has the capabilities to use exponents.
